Bernard

lives means taking small steps with them, always encouraging, always
praising."
In addition to his teaching activities, Bernard Chevalier performed
as first violin with the San Francisco Symphony Orchestra (SFSO) for
18 years. He has a wide range of musical experiences including playing
recital tours across the country with Dr. Marsha Chevalier. He has been
soloist with various orchestras including the SFSO, performed in chamber
music concerts with outstanding musicians, and participated
in summer music programs in Interlochen, Michigan, and Aspen, Colorado.
He received his Bachelor's and Master’s
degrees from San Francisco State University, studying violin with concertmasters
Frank Houser,
Zaven Melikian, and principal violist Rolf Persinger, piano with Herman
Vanderkamp,
and conducting and chamber music with Lazlo Varga, Ferenc Molnar, and
Andor Toth Sr.
In his student days growing up in San Francisco,
he won a number of prestigious awards and scholarships.
Currently, Bernard teaches full time in Santa Rosa: violin, viola, and
ensemble playing at all levels to all ages starting at age 5 as well
as beginning through intermediate piano. He performs often in the North
Bay in solo recitals and chamber music concerts.
